I hear over and over, that when an idea strikes and begins to pull on you.... relentlessly, that means your soul needs to move on it. Well.... those are my words,,, that describe how I interpret it all.
After five years of performing ceremonies under the guidance of friend and mentor Rev. Laura C. Cannon, I launched my own wedding officiant business on March 2, 2016, naming it DARING CELEBRATIONS & CEREMONIES, LLC. That was the first "pull".
Then, in August of this year (not even two months ago), while hosting a sightseeing tour in southern Maine with seven of my BFF's (that's right, along with husband, took my whole girlfriend suite on vacation- I do things BIG), the second "pull" wacked me over the back of my head! Direct from the corn field came the words, "LD, offer wedding ceremonies in Maine, and they will come!". I was taking the girls to all of my favorite places in Kennebunkport, Wells, York, Cape Neddick, Ogunquit and more, and that's when it really hit. I love MAINE, I love how it makes me feel. I am myself in Maine and I know my way around for the most part. Nothing changes, there's no major construction, the people are super friendly and they always smile and make eye contact. Maine is where I feel most happy, content and inspired.
So how do most people know me? "ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS". That's what I'm say'n sister! Don't just talk about it, do it! So here I am, sitting on Square Pond in Shapleigh, Maine, comfortably plopped on the indoor back porch at Jan Darings (my mother-in-law), typing my little heart out! I flew up on Wednesday morning of the October 4th, rented a car and off I went!
I had no idea what I would encounter. My strategy was rather loose, because after all, my last name is Daring. All that I knew was that there are so many gorgeous and creditable wedding venues in the area, I had to inquire. I went on-line, researched the ones I felt I needed to visit, made some notes ....DONE! Off I went!
